We are shifting the focus of this fundraiser from medical treatment costs to help with the burden of burial costs, funeral, and my husband raising a 7-year old boy without me. I want to leave this world knowing that they'll be OK. The money will be put in a separate account and not touched for anything prior to my passing other than purchasing a cememtary plot and whatever costs are associated with the advanced planning of a burial.

"No longer curable"... These are words I refuse to accept.

My name is Rebecka Burns and I am a wife, a mom of 3 boys, and a follower of Jesus Christ. I have been fighting an extremely aggressive and rare form of Sarcoma Cancer since 2021 that metastasized to my lymph nodes in '22. I've endured several surgeries, nearly a year of chemo (that almost killed me), and 30 rounds of radiation. All of those things combined led me to remission for a little more than a year. However, in the Summer of 2024, the cancer woke back up and is pissed off - spreading like wildfire through my lymph system despite 2 major surgeries to try to stop it. During recovery from my most recent abdominal surgery, I discovered new tumors inside the back of my knee growing quickly and making it increasingly painful to walk. A subsequent scan provided worse news than I could have ever imagined, showing major growth and spread to multiple other areas throughout my body. I was given the gut wrenching news that I am 'no longer curable' and told there aren't many traditional treatment options left. [Unfortunately with the rarity of Sarcoma cancers, and mine in particular, there's not enough funding or research, and in turn not enough treatment options compared to others cancers.]

I was started on a palliative oral daily chemo pill that, if it works, will slow down the growth/spread and hopefully buy me some more time with my family. Some people can last years while on this medication, but the response rate is only 20-30% and the side effects can be harsh. I have 3 kids who are my world, and my youngest son is only 7 years old. I am determined to fight with every cell in my body to be here for my family for as long as possible. Therefore, after weeks of research, I believe I need to incorporate different alternative treatments utilizing Naturopathic, Functional Medicine, and Integrative doctors to help in the fight.

BUT IT IS VERY, VERY, EXPENSIVE! Which is why I am asking for help here. If I didn't truly believe this was a life or death situation, I would never ask. Help me find a cure that traditional cancer medicine says doesn't exist! Mistletoe IV Therapy, Sono-Photodynamic Therapy, Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy, Insulin Potentiation Therapy, Cryotherapy, Infrared Sauna, Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy, Acupuncture, Chinese Herbs, and other holistic therapies are all options that have shown some promise but are not covered by insurance. One provider near me offers several of these options but it's $80,000 for their 12-week program.

An integrative oncologist told me about a place I can have a tumor sample sent off to that tests sensitivities to chemos and even off-label drugs to help determine what will kill my particular cancer. The catch though? About $7,000 USD out-of-pocket.

On top of that, the oral chemo pill I was started on, Cabozantinib, costs $25,000 a month (which is absolutely insane!) but luckily my insurance picks up all but a $2,000 deductible. It adds up though.

If all else fails, and no treatments help, any leftover money will go to funeral costs and a fund to help my husband raise my 7-year old son, Hudson.
