I’m writing this on behalf of my dear friend, Becca. If you know her, you know how much she gives to others, and how rarely she ever asks for help in return. In fact, she didn’t want to create this fundraiser at all — but after seeing the situation firsthand, I felt it was important to step in and rally support from the community that loves her so much.
Becca's home has suffered serious hidden water damage, leading to rotting wood in the foundation and floor system. What looks small on the surface has turned out to be a major structural issue, and the repairs are urgent and extensive to make the home livable again.
The licensed contractor’s quote includes:
- Drying the subfloor and wood to prevent mold and future rot
- Reinforcing with joist hangers, proper leveling, and new subflooring
- Replacing rotted sill plates and rim joists — the critical supports for the entire house frame
- Mold treatment and spray foam insulation to protect the structure long-term
- Stabilizing the kitchen and bathrooms, the most heavily used areas of the home
- Essential building materials to complete the work
Homeowners insurance will not cover any of the cost associated with these repairs. The total cost is overwhelming, well over $60,000, and no one should have to carry that kind of burden alone.
