Just three weeks ago, 10-year-old Beau was a happy, active little boy from Mackay, enjoying life with his big sister Alice and his loving parents, Hollie and Dean. What began as appendicitis quickly turned into every family’s worst nightmare.

After having his appendix removed, Beau sadly continued to deteriorate. He was transferred to a larger hospital for revision surgery and spent time in ICU with little improvement. As his condition remained critical, Beau was recently moved again - this time to a major tertiary hospital four hours away from home - to receive the specialised care he urgently needs for a sickness that no one can quite put their finger on.

While Beau bravely fights to recover, his family is facing an enormous emotional and financial strain. Hollie and Dean have had to stop working to be by their son’s side, travelling back and forth and now living away from Mackay to stay close to him. The costs of accommodation, fuel, food, and everyday bills are quickly adding up, all while their world is focused on Beau’s recovery.

Alice is missing her little brother. Hollie and Dean are doing everything they can to stay strong for their children. No family should have to worry about finances while their child is fighting for his health.
