Hi friends. As you all know Bear has been in and out of the hospital since Saturday and hasn't eaten anything since Thurday evening. They diagnosed her Saturday with pancreatitis and diabetes. She was sent home over the weekend due to there being no overnight staff. Sunday night she seemed to be getting worse. Puking left and right, eventually started having accidents in the house, had blood in her vomit and diarrhea. We took her back into her vet on Monday where they admitted her for a 3 day stay to treat her pancreatitis and get her started on insulin. They treated her with panoquell shots (for the management of clinical signs associated with acute onset of pancreatitis) and some antibiotics. They told me she was doing well and resting every time I called to check on her, my mother included. We picked her up Wednesday evening and she seemed pretty out of it but that's not unusual for her after being at the vet. The entire car ride home she was trembling and breathing very rapidly. I wanted to give her some time to calm down after getting home. We were home for about an hour and I called the vet to see if what was going on with her was normal. They then proceed to tell me "she was shaking and panting hard the whole time she was here". So her entire three day stay there she was no where near comfortable. Told me while she was there she was energetic, waging her tail and eating. All lies, she could barely stand, didnt react when she saw me, and there was no chance she ate a thing unless forced. Mind you we've been taking her here for years. They've completely broken my trust. My parents and I then decided the best thing for her was to be hospitalized again. This time I took her to a new vet to get a second opinion (several technicians said she never should have been sent home in this condition when they saw us in the waiting room). She was there for maybe two hours and the new vet called me to tell me she has black bile built up around her gallbladder. They have her on two more antibiotics to fight everything going on, pain meds and an appetite stimulate. She can't come home until she eats due to the fact we need her eating to regulate her diabetes. We've paid $4,500 in medical bills in the last few days, not including what this vet bill will be and all her insulin on top of that. If she needs gallbladder surgery we'll have to see a specialist for surgery and that will be $6,000-8,000. We're not the type to ask for help, the fact I'm writing any of this is hard enough. I'll go into debt before I let her suffer. My sweet girl deserves and needs this help though. To those of you who have had the pleasure to meet her you know what it's like to love her. Any little bit helps. Please don't feel obligated, if you made it to the end of this, thank you. If you've sent well wishes to my baby, thank you again. I love you all. - Katie
