Hi, my name is Kayla and my wife’s name is Angela. Today, while I was working at a customer's home, I saw that there were two doodles (Bear and Lilly) on the property. (I have 6 doodles myself). They were scared at first, but then once they started getting closer to me, I noticed that they were both covered in mats. To the point that their skin can’t breathe and they had infections in their eyes. The only shelter from the sun was a kid's play house and 2 igloo style plastic dog houses. All their water bowls were empty. It was 94° here today.
My heart was broken as I’ve rescued a couple of doodles but never any in this bad of shape. I reached out to the customer and he said that they were his soon to be ex-wife’s dogs and that she didn’t bother taking them with her. I asked if I could take them and he let us return tonight and pick them up. While taking the shock collar off of the female, Lilly, I noticed the prongs on the collar were embedded in her throat. It’s badly infected. My wife and I are working to groom them now (we groom our 6 ourselves) as gently as possible.
Not sure how much the vet bills are going to cost. I don’t have a lot but I couldn’t live with myself not getting these dogs out of that situation. If you can donate anything to help with their medical bills to get them the medical treatment they deserve, we would greatly appreciate it. I’m not sure of the total costs yet. And if you can’t donate then please say a prayer for them on their journey. Thank you all and God bless you.
