Hi everyone! My name is Ashley, and this is my sweet, precious girl, Bean. I adopted Bean just a little over a month ago, and she has already brought so much love and joy into my life. She’s a 7 year old orange (which is rare for a female!) tabby, and was in and out of the shelter her entire life. Vet staff informed me that she had a grade 3 heart murmur, as well as a scarred “cauliflower” ear. She deserved a loving home.

Unfortunately, soon after adoption, we discovered a serious health issue that is impacting her quality of life: chronic ear infections that topical medications don’t seem to be helping.

Because of her ear deformity, Bean’s ear canal is swollen and narrowed, making it hard for proper cleaning and care, and is the probable cause for these recurrent infections that won’t go away, even with several rounds of medication.

After Bean’s last checkup, the veterinarian informed us of a permanent solution: a procedure called a Total Ear Canal Ablation, or TECA. This surgery involves removing Bean’s entire ear canal, and closing the ear permanently. This procedure will not only remove her ear, but eliminate the constant pain and discomfort that she has to deal with every day (as w as me applying meds every night).

As a junior in college, this procedure is an extreme financial burden, but I am committed to giving Bean the comfortable and pain free life she deserves. Every cent raised will go directly toward covering the cost of Bean’s surgery, anesthesia, and post op medications.
