Our sweet baby, Baz Purrman, recently swallowed a pompom toy. This resulted in an obstruction in her small intestine, which, unfortunately, was misdiagnosed by her primary veterinarian, causing her situation to deteriorate rapidly. After three visits to our regular vet, which included around $1k worth of meds, x-rays, and blood tests, she was barely hanging on, and we took her to the UMN Emergency Vet Clinic, where she was examined by their vets and was determined to have a small intestine blockage, along with a 105 degree fever, and had become septic due to bacteria in her bloodstream. Thankfully, the team at the U was able to perform a risky surgery, and after three days in the critical care unit, she was released to recover at home.

Because her illness came on so rapidly, and because of her initial misdiagnosis, my family and I were faced with some tough choices and had to act fast to get her the lifesaving treatment she needed. Fortunately, she is recovering quite well, but we're left with $12,646 in medical bills. Thankfully, our pet insurance covered $2,500 of that, but we are still left with a considerable amount of debt. So, we're humbly asking for help with covering some of this burden. As many of you know, I, too, have had my own share of medical issues and emergencies over the past few years, and this unexpected cost, on top of my own medical debt, has us reaching out for assistance.
