Bay Villas is working tirelessly to protect the interests of our community in Pelican Bay. As a member of the HOA, I have seen firsthand the dedication and effort that has gone into opposing the construction of a proposed waterpark by South Street Partners, owners of the Naples Grande. Our opposition is not just about the waterpark itself, but about the numerous violations and the potential long-term negative implications for our neighborhood. To date, our legal counsel has filed two Zoning Verification Letters, two Original Interpretation documents, and completed engineering reports addressing critical issues like parking and pervious/impervious calculations. These filings argue that the proposal is not in compliance with the Pelican Bay Governing Documents and have already had a significant impact, delaying County approval for application permits to begin construction. We anticipate important rulings from the County in late February or early March, and it is crucial that we are prepared to respond to whatever outcomes arise, including potential appeals by the Hotel.
The funds raised through this campaign will be used to cover ongoing legal expenses, commission additional engineering reports as needed, and ensure we can respond effectively to County rulings on the documents we have filed. Every contribution will help us avoid duplication of effort and put us on solid footing to continue our opposition efforts. Our arguments are detailed, supportable, and factual, and while responses from the County have been positive so far, nothing is guaranteed. Continued preparation is necessary to protect our community’s future. We are grateful for any support you can provide—together, we can make a difference and ensure that Pelican Bay remains a wonderful place to live.
