The Organizers, September 2026
Hello, our names are Abigail and Jennifer, and we are raising funds on behalf of our friends, Basil and Shouq Qadih.
Abigail came to know Shouq while volunteering in the Middle East and was able to help raise funds through GoFundMe for Basil’s family. Basil had also been volunteering with World Central Kitchen, helping to feed others during the war. As conditions became increasingly desperate and he struggled to find enough food for his own family, Basil reached out to Jennifer, who had previously fundraised in support of World Central Kitchen.

Basil and his wife, Shouq, are living with family in a tent complex in Gaza under extraordinarily difficult and dangerous conditions. Shouq is pregnant, and the family urgently needs reliable access to food, medical care, clean water, and the basic necessities of daily life.

We are asking for your help in supporting them through this devastating time. Any amount you are able to give will go directly toward helping Basil, Shouq, and their family meet their immediate needs.

Your generosity means more than we can say.

With love and gratitude,

Abigail & Jennifer

Basil's Message:
My name is Basil Qadih.

I am contacting you in a time of urgent need. My family and I were displaced October 7 2023 from eastern Khan Younis to the west of Khan Younis due to the continuous shelling and ongoing conflict. We were then displaced to Rafah and lived under miserable conditions in tents.

I once had a home to shelter me and as a lawyer and community leader I was able to provide for my daily sustenance and the needs of my greater family.

But without warning, everything collapsed. My home was bombed and destroyed, which was my safe haven, and I was forced to leave my job, my only source of income. I have found myself suffering from challenges that I never imagined I would face.

After five years of marriage and trying, my wife is pregnant. It was a small light for us in the midst of all this darkness.

I face daily difficulties to provide the simplest needs. It is difficult for me to find a description of what we face every day in Gaza. No food, no medicine (my wife now needs additional medical care), and almost no clean drinking water. I am asking you to do what you can to help me build a safer and more stable life for my wife and our unborn child.

Any support, no matter how small, can make a huge difference in my family's life. If you cannot donate, simply sharing this link may help it reach someone who can.

Thank you to everyone who is thinking of lending a helping hand, and I hope that one day I can return the favor and help others as you have helped me.
With sincere thanks

Basil Qadih

Our First Post, Fall 2024

Hello, my name is Abigail, and I am raising funds on behalf of my friends, Basil and Shouq Qadih. Basil is stuck in Gaza, while his wife and many of their family members are in Cairo, where I met her while volunteering. I will share all funds with them as soon as possible, as food and medical care are desperately needed. Basil is also trying to secure more stable housing as winter approaches, and purchase blood pressure medication for his mother, which has tripled in price. He has included a message below.
With love and solidarity,
Abigail

My name is Basil Qadih.
I am contacting you in a time of urgent need. My family and I were displaced since October 7 from eastern Khan Younis to southern Khan Younis due to the continuous shelling and ongoing conflict. Then we were displaced to Rafah and tried to live under miserable conditions in tents. It is difficult for me to find a description of what we face every day in Gaza. No food, no medicine, no clean drinking water.

Disability, psychological pressures and trauma due to the loss of loved ones. My life was going normally and stable. I had a home to shelter me and a job that provided for my daily sustenance and the needs of my family. But suddenly and without warning, everything collapsed. I lost my home, which was my safe haven and home, and I was forced to leave my job, which was my only source of income.

Now I find myself at a crossroads, suffering from challenges that I never imagined I would face. Life has become difficult, as I face daily difficulties to provide the simplest needs. I'm not asking for much, just a chance to rebuild what I lost, and start a new life in a safe and stable place. Now we are approaching winter and the weather is difficult to live in a thin plastic tent. We now need help to build an alternative home, a caravan, a semi-temporary house to protect us from the cold winter and rainwater.

Any support, no matter how small, can make a huge difference in my life and help me get back on my feet. Thank you to everyone who is thinking of lending a helping hand, and I hope that one day I can return the favor and help others as you have helped me.
With sincere thanks
Basil Qadih
