Help Barry Fight his Cancer.
Dear family, friends and all other kind-hearted souls! I am setting up this Go Fund Me account for my sweet boyfriend, Barry. We have been a couple for over five years, and I love him with all my heart.
Sadly, Barry was diagnosed with Esophageal Cancer in August 2024. This is a rare type of cancer, making up about 1% of all cancers in the United States. The only symptom he had was it became very difficult to eat (Dysphagia). Ultimately, his Dysphagia became so severe, he couldn’t eat any food for 3 months. He could only consume nutritional drinks, even struggling with these at times. During this time, he lost a lot of weight.
His endoscopy showed a very large 9.6 cm tumor in his Esophagus. He completed a few months of Chemo & Radiation. This helped shrink his tumor, which thankfully gave him the ability to slowly start eating again. He has been able to gain back some of the weight he lost.
He was supposed to have surgery (Esophagectomy) December 2024. Sadly, we recently found out his cancer metastasized and spread to his liver. His Oncologist said there is zero benefit to enduring a very complex and dangerous surgery since his cancer spread. Now, he is Stage 4. He started more aggressive chemo and immunotherapy in December.
Due to his diagnosis & treatments, he had to leave his job and has been unemployed since August 2024. Not having that income since August has been very financially straining. But, we have been able to manage our finances to this point. He was approved for Social Security Disability in September 2024, but he will not receive any payments until later this year. Although his Social Security Disability Income will help, it will not be enough to take the place of his employment income or make up for the many months with zero income from his job.
I know many of us are feeling financial pressure. However, if you are in a position to contribute any amount to help us get through these next few months until his Social Security Disability kicks in, we would be ever so grateful and appreciative.
Any contribution, no matter the size will make a difference in easing our anxiety and financial burdens. Your donations will support us with medical bills, transportation, mortgage, and other essential financial expenses.
We are very thankful for your prayers and financial support. We would also appreciate it if you would please share our story.
Thank you so much for listening to our story!
With Heartfelt Thanks,
Angela
