We lost my brother unexpectedly on July 15, 2025. He was a retired teacher and coach but had to continue to work to supplement his income, despite having severe back issues and chronic pain. Barry was preparing to leave for work early that morning but sadly, never made the commute. He was found in his truck outside of his residence, having passed away from an apparent heart attack. He was single and unfortunately, did not have life or burial insurance.

Barry was an educator at heart and he loved sports, especially baseball. He was born into a military family, moving across the country and abroad, learning how to adapt to change. After high school, he poured his efforts into his own education, eventually earning 3 bachelor's degrees. He was an excellent college baseball player as well. After years of studying himself, he found his calling in teaching and coaching at the middle school level in central Texas. He was a positive influence in countless young lives, and he was admired and adored by many. None more important than his own son, who tragically passed away in July 2005 at age of 20. His son was an exceptional young man and athlete, which was a source of great pride for Barry.

The day after his passing, my brother David and his wife began the long drive from SC to TX to begin handling Barry's final affairs. They were joined soon after by their daughter and myself to help navigate the difficult task ahead. David selflessly initiated the arrangements, paying all expenses out of his own pocket. He even paid Barry's rent. Unfortunately, there are still significant costs to come. Family memorials are yet to be held, and arrangements for his final resting place must still be made.

I would like to mention that David did not ask for help and was not aware that I was making this effort.

While the rest of the family is doing what they can, this memorial fund is to help lessen David's burden financially and allow him to refocus on his own family and responsibilities. He has always been very generous to all of the Kemper family, and we would just like to do more to help him. Barry loved the Lord and his family, and his memory and legacy are very important to us.
