Barry Joseph, President of the Kiwanis Club of Tehachapi, has always been a pillar of support for our community. His commitment to helping children and families is matched by his daily acts of kindness, both through Kiwanis and as a member of Call to Care at Tehachapi Community Church. Barry’s dedication is a family affair—Dave Lasley, his partner, and Julie, his sister, are also officers in our Kiwanis Club, working together to make a difference in Tehachapi.

Recently, while on an Alaskan cruise, Barry collapsed unexpectedly and was rushed off the ship for emergency care. He is now hospitalized at Harbor View Medical Center in Seattle, where he has undergone brain surgery. We are deeply grateful for the excellent care he’s receiving, but the journey ahead is uncertain. Dave is staying in a nearby hotel to be close to Barry, and the costs for travel, lodging, and daily living are quickly adding up. Family members are traveling to and from Seattle to support Barry, and every bit of help makes a difference.

One of the ways that we can help lift the burden of this medical crisis is to address their most urgent needs so that they can stay by Barry’s side. All of us are still waiting for Barry to wake up.
