"To create is to believe that the impossible can happen."
Barquicinema is a foundation based in Barquisimeto, Venezuela. We have turned the phrase "Making cinema from the possible" into our philosophy of life. After four years of hard work and training new talent, we now face our most ambitious goal yet: positioning our film, "Gvantsa: El Caso de la Bailarina," at the Marché du Film of the 2026 Cannes Film Festival.
Gvantsa is a reflection of creative resilience. Filmed under challenging conditions, this work represents the vision of a delegation of young creators from Lara who believe deeply in the power of our images. It is not just a film; it is the spearhead of a productive hub seeking to prove that high-quality cinema with its own identity is being forged in Venezuela.
Being in Cannes from May 12th to 20th is not just a symbolic presence; it is a business mission. The Marché du Film is the epicenter of the global film industry, and our delegation needs to cover the operational logistics so that Venezuelan cinema is taken into account by the world’s major industry players.
How will your contribution be used?
Your support will go directly toward the operations and presence of our delegation in France:
Accommodation and Mobility: Basic lodging and transportation for the technical team during the film market.
Professional Accreditations: Formal access to business rounds, screenings, and international distribution platforms.
Marketing and Promotion: Design and production of press kits, screeners, and sales tools to pitch the film to international distributors.
To Believe and To Create
At Barquicinema, we don’t just make movies; we build futures. This campaign is for those young people who continue to believe in national cinema and who now have the opportunity to take the name of Barquisimeto and Venezuela to the world’s most important stage.
No matter how small, every contribution is a tool that allows us to work with dignity and professionalism at the festival. If you cannot donate, please help us by sharing this link with your network.
Thank you for being part of this journey and for believing in cinema "from the possible"!
