Support Barista's Recovery After Bike Accident
Donation protected
Hey humans, I’m Liz. On April 29th after my opening barista shift, I hopped on my bicycle to ride to the grocery store. Unfortunately, on my way, I encountered something in the road that abruptly brought my bike to a halt and propelled me over the bars. I sustained a displaced fracture of the left olecranon, concussion & stitches in my lip due to impacting pavement, and right knee injury. Within two days, my elbow was surgically repaired. While I’m thankful I’m relatively intact, I am not able to work for six more weeks. I LOVE my job as a barista and cannot wait to return to work, but for now, I am unemployed while I heal and complete physical therapy. In fact, I am limited to zero use of my left arm and cannot accept any alternative employment in the meantime. Long story short: I am doing my best to make everything work financially throughout this period of time but like many, I rely on steady income to pay rent and other necessities. This is an incredibly humbling experience and though I’ve pivoted quite a few times in recent years, this is one moment that I cannot jeopardize the long term outcome of healing.
I am asking for help openly for the first time in a decade filled with medical shenanigans. I simply cannot do this alone… Any donation towards June rent and utilities would be at this point, a relief I cannot fathom.
Thank you for any consideration you humans may offer. I’ll be rallying the best I can to make it back to work by the end of June.
