Hello, my name is Sarah and I’m trying to help a very special family raise money to keep up on their bills during difficult times.

Grandma Barb works at my children’s daycare and is one of the most amazing “grandmas” anyone could ask for.

On August 24th, Barb fell from a ladder while painting her garage and sustained an open tib/fib fracture. She underwent surgery on August 25th to set the break and had hardware put in. On September 2, she realized an odor coming from the surgical site. She went back to the ER and they found 3 types of infections in the wounds. Following this, over the next two weeks, she had 3 surgeries to debride the wound of all infection and receive IV antibiotics. A plastic surgeon in Muskegon saw her to cover the wound but couldn’t because of how much tissue was removed.

Right around the 24th of September, she was transferred to Royal Oak to receive a flap procedure, taking part of her stomach with the vein and tissue and placing it over the wound. The first 10ish days, they had to clean up the wound with a vac.

On October 2nd, she had her flap procedure. She then spent 10 days in the ICU, receiving leech therapy to help the veins take. She was finally discharged from the hospital on October 14th. From then to January 16th, she’s had 11 procedures to debride parts of the flap that didn’t take, place implants that help tissue grow, and now close the wound completely with a skin graft.

With all of this going on, she has been out of work now for 5 months. She and her husband are starting to struggle financially between juggling getting back and forth to appointments/procedures in Detroit and monthly bills. If you know Barb, you know she would absolutely give anyone the shirt off her back if they needed it. Now, I am asking all of you to please help her in a very vulnerable time.
