Support Barbara's Journey for Closure and Compassion

Hi. My name is Barbara. I was involved with an abolitionist group who supports work to end the death penalty. They do a lot of important work. One thing they do is recruit people to become pen pals to people on death row.
I started writing a man on death row a couple of years ago. I've learned a lot from this experience, especially about loneliness, compassion, regret, understanding, and other lessons in life.
This man regrets what he did and has asked God for forgiveness. He decided that he would request an expedited execution date and pay the ultimate price for his wrongdoing. His execution date is scheduled for April 24th.
I feel it's important that I have the opportunity to visit with him prior to the execution. I'm an amputee and on Social Security disability, so my income is limited. But an angel landed on my shoulder. She gave me her frequent flyer miles and bought me a ticket.
I checked into free lodging at a Hospitality House. This place was for out-of-town people to stay for free when visiting an inmate on death row. Unfortunately, they've closed their doors.
I've been checking around the area for a cheap motel. The cheapest I can find is $90 a day. Since I'm staying 6 nights, it's going to be expensive. Plus, I need traveling money, food, and ground transportation.
I figured I could handle the miscellaneous expenses, but the motel room cost will make it extremely difficult for me to afford.
If anyone wants to donate to my cause, I would appreciate it as would my friend. I know this is a difficult topic with a lot of different opinions. This isn't the forum to debate those issues. I have been emotional support for this man especially during this rough period of waiting for his date. Plus, I think it is important for me to see him to give me closure. I'd like to be there so I can pray with him and ask for a safe journey.
