Hi everyone,

My name is Jimmy. I am Barbara’s cousin. Some of you may have known her as Joe Pangaro pre-transition. Barbara passed away on 8-8-2025, after a long fight with diabetes, pneumonia, seizures, as well as dementia, and the early onset of Alzheimer's. She was unfortunately homeless and destitute towards the end of her life. While living in a shelter, she was taken to the hospital on 7-11-25 after a seizure, which led to heart and lung problems, and severely increased sugar levels. All of these ailments ultimately led to her passing away in her sleep, a result of pneumonia and sepsis.

I’m in the process of attempting to have her body cremated in Florida and have her ashes shipped back to New Jersey to be buried with her parents. After speaking with the funeral director in Florida, I can have this done relatively quickly, but seeing as Barb had no money, I cannot afford to do it on my own. I am reluctantly asking any family and friends that can help, please give if you can.

As a final goodbye, I would like to have a memorial dinner with family and friends. A time where we can get together and share some of our fondest memories we all shared with Barb.
