My name is Jen Morris, and I am Barbara's daughter-in-law (married to her oldest son, Mike).

Barbara has been battling cancer since 2006, for almost 20 years. We have now reached a time where she feels as though it is getting the best of her, and she is seeking alternative treatment.

Barbara has triple-negative breast cancer, stage 4. If you are not familiar with breast cancer, you may not know what triple-negative means. It means that the cancer lacks 3 key receptors, ER, PR, and HER2. If a cancer has those receptors, then doctors can create targeted therapies specific to that person's cancer signature. With triple-negative, there is no nuanced target to pursue, so current and conventional medicine methods prescribe chemotherapy. Chemotherapy dramatically reduces quality of life and, in Barbara's case, does not have a high success rate.

At this point, Barbara would like to pursue treatment that will optimize her immune system, make her feel better, and keep the cancer away for as long as possible so she can enjoy the time she has left with her grandchildren.

In the U.S., these therapies are not covered by insurance, so I am raising funds to make this happen for Barbara. Selfishly, I want my daughter (5 years old), and my son (3 years old), to get as much time with their Gigi as possible. I didn't have grandmothers present in my life growing up. It is so, so special to see the bond formed between the mother of my extraordinary husband and the children I am blessed with. Barbara also has two other grandchildren from her youngest son, another granddaughter (6 years old) and grandson (3 years old).

Barbara is an extraordinary individual. She is so strong, in her mind, in her faith, and her love for others. I am humbly asking for your support in making this future a reality for Barbara, and her family. We want more time.
