Hello everyone. My name is Michael.

Over the past 8 years I have been taking care of my grandmother. She moved in with me in 2017. We lived together for 5.5 of those years. Eventually her care came to a point where I could either take care of her full time and not work or move her to an assisted living. Due to financial reasons, I moved her to the closest assisted living to me. 3 miles away. I came as often as I could. I tried to come at least once a week.

Through the past few months her health and mental state has been deteriorating. Her speech got worse and worse and her eating habits declined. It was to the point where I was visiting her and feeding her otherwise she wouldnt eat.

Her dementia took over. It was a hard fought battle. But today, just about an hour ago, she lost her battle. I visited with her today(11/11) for about an hour and she wasn't feeling good. She didn't manage to say much but did manage to tell me she loved me as I was leaving.
