Support Barbara Fargas in Her Fight for Recovery ❤️
On Saturday, August 17th, My Mother, Barbara Fargas, was rushed to the hospital with severe chest pains, where she was diagnosed with a heart attack. Upon further examination, doctors discovered that she had several clogged heart arteries, requiring an emergency procedure known as a Stent (click on the word for more information)
Shortly after this procedure she was placed on a machine called Ecmo (click on the word for more information) after this procedure where we were then able to see my mom we were told by the doctors that my mom’s heart will not recover.. we were devastated !! what does this mean ? I was then contacted by a transplanted coordinator who explained to me the process of getting my mom listed for a heart transplant.
During this procedure, complications arose & caused her leg to lose blood flow, leading to severe swelling. To alleviate the pressure, the doctors had to perform a Fasciotomy (click on the word for more information)
in her case these cuts where made on each side of her calve on her left leg. Thankfully, her leg's pulse was restored, however still waiting to see how the muscle recovers. Due to the nerve damage caused she will need extensive physical therapy to regain the ability to walk once she regains consciousness.
To give her heart the best chance of recovery, she was placed in a medically induced coma. Supported by breathing machines, as her body slowly begins to heal. Each day brings small signs of improvement in her heart condition, giving us hope that she will soon wake up and begin her journey toward recovery. I have had to step away from my job—hopefully just temporarily—to be at the hospital, monitoring her condition and making crucial medical decisions on her behalf as situations arise.
If you know my mother, you know she has the BIGGEST heart and would drop anything in a heartbeat to help ANYONE in need. Now, she needs our help.
We are reaching out to our family and the friends - who we call family, for help during this incredibly challenging time. Your donations will directly contribute to the following:
- Medical Expenses Therapy and Rehabilitation: Funding for the extensive physical therapy she will need to regain strength and mobility in her leg and other rehabilitation services once she wakes up.
- Home Care Adjustments: Making necessary adjustments to our home to accommodate her needs once she returns, including mobility aids and in-home care services.
- Living and Home Expenses: Supporting our family in maintaining/managing everyday expenses during this difficult period. Essential living costs that have become harder to manage with our focus on my mom’s care.
We are eternally grateful for any amount you can contribute. Every dollar brings us closer to ensuring she gets the care and support she needs to fight her way back to us. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers as she continues this battle.
Thank you for your generosity, love, and support during this trying time.
