Hi! My name is Banjo . I am 4 months old, and my family just rescued me on 5/2/25. I've been learning new tricks, getting spoiled, and falling in love with my new family. But since 5/5, I have been in and out of the vet's office, and today am battling pneumonia and possibly distemper. I am currently spending the night in urgent care. It has been an has been a rough two weeks, and my symptoms have been fluctuating. But overall, I am a tough guy and my new family knows I will pull through. None of us expected to spend so much time at the vet's office, which has been very expensive. My family just lost a dog to cancer, and I want to get back to my new home with my loving family. A little bit of help would go a really long way during this time.
As 5/10/25, I am being kept in isolation, with oxygen, receiving fluids, steroids, and multiple medications to help me feel better. We still have a long ways to go in my recovery, but things are looking up!
5/11
Thank you much for caring about our boy.
As of this morning, we transported him from the emergency vet back to his regular vet to keep costs down. His oxygen dropped back down to 86 again (should be 95-100) so he will remain on oxygen all day today. And will likely stay in urgent care overnight again tonight. ($1.5k+ per night)
His fever keeps fluctuating up and down, so they are keeping him on fluids. The are concerned that he isn't responding well to the antibiotics so the are going to try an Anti-fungal medication in hopes that may help solve the issue.
At this point it is either:
A) he has a fungal infection we're not previously aware of and need to start treating
B) he is battling a classic case of severe pneumonia and needs to remain in treatment for a number of days.
Or C) it is distemper, and that would be worst case scenario and he is not getting better.
We will hear more from the vet later today on his progress. ❤️
