Support Bandit’s Emergency Spinal Surgery: Healing Journey + Surgery Costs
My sweet dog Bandit sadly suffered a sudden and severe spinal injury that showed quickly deteriorating symptoms and required emergency surgery to save his ability to walk and have a happy and healthy quality of life. The entire process was extremely sudden with first symptoms showing Sunday night 3/9, followed by a regular vet visit, ER vet visit, neurologist consultation, MRI scan, hospitalization, and finally spinal surgery on Wednesday 3/12.
Bandit is 10 years old and has lived a healthy life with no other medical issues. Because of this and getting in to the doctor for the injury early, he had a very positive surgery prognosis and was very likely to have a near-full or full recovery and live many more years as he is a small mixed breed dog.
Surgery went well and he is back home with me in recovery now. While I’m doing everything I can to provide the best care possible, due to the sudden nature of the injury, the costs have been extremely overwhelming. I am facing a total bill of a little under $13,000. Physical therapy and follow-up appointments and care would be additional to this amount.
Any donation, no matter how small, would mean the world to us and would help me continue to provide the best care for Bandit as his sole caretaker living on my own in San Francisco. Every dollar will go directly to Bandit’s vet bills to pay off the surgery and towards his rehabilitation. If you’re not able to donate, we completely understand and hope you would please consider sharing this campaign to spread the word. Every donation and share is extremely appreciated!
Bandit has been the light of my life since meeting him at the SPCA in Reno in 2015. Through a very chaotic and unpredictable last decade of my life, Bandit has been my constant. He has been there with me through the crazy years of college, moving back home during a pandemic, moving city to city all over NorCal from Napa to South City to SF and has touched so many lives on the way! Although this injury journey has been incredibly heartbreaking and difficult, I’m so grateful for the support I’ve already received so far from my community in finding vets, advice, and emotional support.
Thank you so much for your kindness and generosity. Bandit and I are forever grateful and I hope he will be back to being his happy little bread loaf self very soon!
