I have been talking with the family of Homer & Bambi Boyd about the struggles they are having paying Bambi’s medical bills for her cancer treatment. Bambi’s cancer is stage 4 pancreatic cancer and has metastasized to her liver. The following is information from Bambi herself- The surgeon said that I will have 11 months to live. Since it’s stage 4 they wasn’t going to do surgery. However, while I was seeing my surgeon, he said that if my masses keep shrinking and my CA19-9 results keep coming down, I continue to eat well and exercise, he might consider doing the operation.
I go to chemotherapy every other week. I get two types of chemo and a pump that I wear for 48 hours, then I go back for them to remove it. I use to get one other chemo but it caused me to have neuropathy in my feet and hands. It also caused me to be sensitive to cold, so I was unable to drink anything cold or get anything from the refrigerator. When I would drink something cold it felt and if I was swallowing glass. Thank goodness I don’t have that problem anymore, but I still have neuropathy in my hands and feet. I just paid 696.00 dollars for a bill from Wake Forest and that won’t be the last I’m sure, especially if I have the surgery. My prescriptions run me about 400.00 a month. So anything would be appreciated.
