Hi everyone, my name is Jose, and I’m asking for help for my cat, Balu.

Balu is a loving, playful 2-year-old domestic shorthair who is a huge part of our family. On January 25, 2026, Balu was attacked during a dog fight and suffered serious injuries. He recently had sutures and surgical staples removed from his front leg, and thankfully that wound is healing well. Unfortunately, during his follow-up visit, the vet discovered a concerning bulge in his abdomen that has not improved. Doctors believe there may be internal tissue or structures herniating through an opening, which likely means Balu will need surgery.

Balu has already been referred to a 24-hour specialty hospital for emergency evaluation and abdominal ultrasound. The emergency exam, imaging, medications, and ongoing treatment have already cost over $1,000, and additional surgery and recovery care are expected to add significantly more. We are doing everything we can to make sure he gets the care he needs, but the unexpected medical expenses are overwhelming.

Balu is a sweet and resilient cat who brings comfort and joy to our home every single day. Seeing him in pain has been heartbreaking, and we just want to give him the best chance to recover and live a healthy life.
