Support Ballyhoo Curiosity Shop After Break In
Donation protected
Dear friends, our beloved neighborhood curiosity shop could use a bit of help!
Last Sunday, Ballyhoo Curiosity Shop was burgled early in the morning when a duo smashed their way in, took off with over $20,000 of inventory and left a wake of destruction. In addition to the many stolen items, multiple glass cases and fixtures were destroyed and there was significant damage to the front door. This comes at a really difficult time for the shop- the owner and staff, as they have been working overtime for months to renovate a new storefront (just down the street!) with the goal to relocate the shop by September.
After taking a couple days to sweep up glass, board up the door and collect their thoughts Ballyhoo owner and staff have almost reached their own breaking point.
We are seeking assistance from the community to help recoup what was stolen, fix what was destroyed, and to assist the owner and staff in building a bolder, more delightfully immersive curiosity shopping experience for you in the new storefront.
While the break-in is definitely a set back at this crazy time, it hasn’t broken the Ballyhoo spirit! They’ve reopened their doors on time, and are ready to keep serving oddities to the Seattle community… but they shouldn’t have to do it alone.
Your donation will help us:
Replace stolen inventory
Repay local consignors for stolen items
Repair damage to our fixtures and shop
Keep momentum on our new build-out so Ballyhoo 2.0 opens without further delay
If you’ve ever wandered the fascinating aisles, discovered a perfect gift, or simply connected with something strange and wonderful at Ballyhoo, now’s the perfect moment to show your love. Every bit counts, and every share helps.
