Support Ball Photo Supply's Hurricane Recovery
Donation protected
Ball Photo Supply, a cherished fixture in Asheville’s photographic community, has weathered many changes over its 60-year history. Recently, the store took a big step by moving to a new location at 569 Merrimon Ave., where it’s now set up to offer a full range of in-house film processing, printing, equipment rentals, and more. But just as they were getting settled, Hurricane Helene brought unforeseen setbacks that have impacted both the business and the hardworking team behind it.
The move to the new location was an investment in Asheville’s photography community. The store’s team carefully crafted a space where locals could continue to develop film, print photos, rent high-quality gear, and even get their passport photos—all under one roof. But the hurricane not only disrupted the store’s setup but also led to significant financial losses. Employees, whose income depends on the store's steady business, have felt the weight of this downturn personally.
At Ball Photo Supply, the staff members aren't just employees—they're passionate photographers and advocates of the arts, dedicated to providing friendly and knowledgeable service to Asheville's residents. However, with the added stress of recovering from the hurricane’s damage, they’re facing challenges in maintaining their livelihoods and in fully serving their community.
Your support through this GoFundMe campaign will help ensure Ball Photo Supply continues its mission of serving Asheville’s creative spirit. Your donation will assist in covering lost income for employees, restoring the new location to its full potential, and helping them keep their doors open to all who cherish the art of photography.
Thank you for supporting Asheville’s photography community!
My name is Joe Pollock, I'm also from Asheville, and am currently providing social media and marketing services for Ball. The funds raised will be used to compensate employees who were unable to work during this time, as well as pay for bills and loss of sales that we suffered due to this storm, so that we can build our new store stronger as we go forward after Helene, to help our photographic community grow.
