This is my Baji baby. In the last 48 hours he has been battling with a urinary blockage from an inflamed urethra, micro crystals in his urine, and mucus from irritation causing him to not be able to urinate. (As many of you know, this could be fatal if the proper care is not provided).

Friday evening I had noticed Baji grunting every time he adjusted his position, meowing in a peculiar and distressed way, and inability to get comfortable followed by wheezing and labored breathing. All signs pointed to my boy not being okay. I immediately brought him into our primary care.

We performed for x-rays, bloodwork, & cystocentesis to diagnose him. The results showed: elevated kidney levels, gas in his stomach and intestines, an enlarged bladder, and haze in his lungs.

Upon vet instruction, we brought him home to monitor overnight. Unfortunately, his condition took a turn for the worse. Baji began straining to urinate. Due to this I rushed him to the emergency vet where they recommended a catheter and hospitalization with fluids, medication, & regular flushing of his bladder (due to micro crystals and debris in his bladder getting trapped in his urethra causing the inflammation and blockage).

Our sweet boy was cleared to come home this morning after removal of the catheter and urinating in the litter box. Upon arriving at home at 11am Baji tried using the litter box numerous times without anything coming out.

A resumed blockage requires an additional catheter and hospitalization and possible surgery to permanently dilate his urethra to avoid this condition again.

This was such an unexpected situation since Baji has never had any issues, is an indoor only cat, is a lazy but active boy who loves love & of course, food, since rescuing him 4 years ago at 1 year old. Our expenses for his care are increasing rapidly and our financials are unforgiving. We are petrified to lose our baby who made us pet parents.

The medical staff who have helped us along this short, difficult, & scary journey have been so compassionate and eager to alleviate his pain, we are so endlessly thankful. We are praying for him & this situation.
