My name is Susan Collura and I am trying to help my great niece who was in an horrific automobile accident on December 28 and has found herself owing unpaid loans and many medical bills!
Bailey is a 20-year-old who had just completed Cosmetology School @ Aveda in Baton Rouge and was preparing for her State Boards when her accident occurred. She was on her way home from working at Lit Pizza, driving down La1 in Brusly, headed northbound, when a woman who was headed southbound was traveling in the wrong lane and hit Bailey head-on! The woman was killed in this accident, which left Bailey hospitalized for 4 weeks! During this time, Bailey underwent 3 different surgeries, including a broken arm (placing pins/plates in her right forearm), a broken right foot and right ankle (placing pins/plates), and a broken left hip in which doctors placed 2 plates. Other medical issues included a severe cut to the bone of her right knee, and her left leg being put in traction with pins through the left knee. While in the hospital, Bailey underwent occupational therapy and physical therapy to prepare her for her trip home. Bailey is non-weight bearing, which means she can't put any weight on either leg and needs assistance to and from the bed to use the bathroom or into her wheelchair.
Bailey's mom, Dawn, is a single parent and had no choice but to return to work once Bailey was discharged from the hospital. Her grandmother sits with her from sunup to sunset daily because there is no program that will assist with a sitter unlessyour over 21. Bailey's home is set up with a hospital bed, a potty chair, and a wheelchair (a wheelchair ramp had to be built). Her new bedroom is set up in the family living room.
Not only does Bailey need help with her medical bills, but she has her cosmetology loan that she was working to pay off as well as other bills. Bailey will be non-weight bearing for another couple of months with no income. We pray that Bailey will make a full recovery and will be able to continue on her path to cosmetology because she absolutely loves it, but only time will tell.
Any donation will be greatly appreciated, and Bailey and her family thank you in advance!
