Hi! My name is Sydney, but more importantly, my dog’s name is Bailey. Last September, I adopted her in a home-to-home adoption. She came from a rural farmland next to the border of East Montana, all the way to Missoula, where she has come out of her shell by tackling her fears. She came to me as a nearly 6-year-old dog, up to date on vaccines, but had a rough puppyhood, nearly dying from Parvo. Because of this, it is suspected the Parvo caused issues with development, and she has an “unerupted” K9. This means her largest tooth on the left side has been in her jaw and nasal cavity for 6 years. As her body has attempted to get rid of it (due to decay and infection risk), she developed a drainage site both in her mouth and her nose. I noticed the site in her mouth when I got her and asked about it to the previous owners. They told me they never noticed it and it hadn’t been a concern. After 5 months of non-healing tissue continuing to decay towards her top jaw, X-rays discovered this tooth issue.
Bailey is my first dog of my adult life. I grew up with dogs, but she is the first dog that is truly mine. I love her more than life, and she loves our life here a lot. She has become a fan favorite with friends and family, and she’s even attended classes here at the University of Montana and become some professors’ favorite student!
Without this surgery, the chronic inflammation will continue to destroy her jaw, soft tissues, nasopharyngeal structures, and likely cause septic infection and death over time. I did not expect this cost when adopting a cared-for adult dog, but alas, life hands us lemons. I would love to provide Bailey the life she deserves. She has only just begun living her best life.
Please consider donating any amount. Every dollar goes towards her surgery and pre-operative imaging. Seriously, every dollar counts.
