Bailey’s Post-Surgery Update (written as Bailey )
Hi everybody! It’s me — Bailey!
I just wanted to say thank you from the bottom of my big, yellow Lab heart for helping me get my eye fixed. I can finally see more clearly, and wow… what a difference!
I’m still wearing this ridiculous cone (Mom says nine more days… easy for her to say), but I’m counting the seconds until I can get back to sniffing plants, chasing sunshine, and being my usual bouncy, Tigger-self again.
Don’t worry — I’m doing everything Dr. DeVault says, because Mom says I gotta. So there!
Overall, I’m healing really well and feeling pretty great — just a little impatient to get my bounce back.
Thank you so, so much for your kindness and generosity.
Mom and I are truly grateful.
I’m sending slobbery kisses and accepting virtual butt scratches in return.
Love,
Bailey
My name is Trish Malone, and I’m reaching out on behalf of my dear friend Bailey — a sweet yellow Lab who lives for chasing balls, splashing in water, and playing endless rounds of fetch. For the past seven years Bailey has been a loyal and loving service dog to her senior mom, Vivian Waters.
Now that Bailey is a senior herself, she needs a little extra support.
Bailey has developed a benign growth over her right eye that is affecting her vision. She can’t catch her beloved fly balls anymore, and the growth has begun to bleed because she keeps rubbing it or bumping it against things. Removing it is important to prevent infection and to restore her comfort.
Because Bailey is also living with stage-two kidney failure — which is common in older, larger dogs — her surgery will require additional IV fluids and special care. Once this growth is removed, she’ll be able to see clearly again and return to the joyful, energetic activities she loves most.
Her surgery is scheduled with Dr. DeVault at Willamette Valley Animal Hospital in Tualatin on December 3, 2025 with a cost between $600 and $1200 depending on so many variables.
I’m helping Vivian raise the necessary funds so Bailey can get the care she needs. Thank you for taking the time to read her story.
