Dear Baci Supporters and Loving Fans,

With an Aching Heart, Smiles of Sweet Memories, and a whole lot of Tears, I share with you that Baci passed away very early this morning.

Baci and the Fam had 5 good days together, though yesterday was the most difficult time we've had at home. Oddly enough, right before his symptoms returned, Baci and I shared a very Special Moment. For a couple of minutes, he was so Calm, so Peaceful, giving me lots of Eye Contact and Loving Shumushiness. I wanted to grab my phone to record it to share with all of you but opted just to enjoy our moment together.

The decline started suddenly, and I'm grateful I was home when it happened. I held Baci Boy in my arms for over four hours. At times, he seemed Comforted and even fell asleep for a bit. I spoke to his vet this morning, and she adamantly confirmed that we did everything possible to give him his Best Life with PSS.

I miss him so much already. Although I've had several pets, I must admit that Baci and I had an extra special connection. Baci Babie Boy will always be with Me and in my Heart. I'm still singing “Baci Jingles” at home.....

I wanted to be transparent because you have kindly been a part of our Baci Battle Journey. Baci's CT scan and surgery have been cancelled. As the funds have not been used yet, if any donor prefers a refund, please contact me directly and I will do my best to accommodate your request. Meow there! I'm Jennifer, and this is the tale of my Purrfectly Imperfect Kitten, Baci (pronounced "Bachee" - Italian for "Kiss").

Baci's not just a cat - he's a mini medical marvel in the making. He's scheduled for a Cat Scan (yes, the irony is not lost on us) and surgery for his PSS (Portosystemic Shunt) on July 8th, 2024.

In human speak, that's a genetic oopsie where his blood vessels are bypassing his liver, skipping the entire detoxification process.

Now, they say pets choose their humans, and boy, did Baci choose well! He's part of our furry Brady Bunch - living with mom Miso, dad Romeo, and rescue sister FeeFee and of course me, his heartbroken human Mama.

Yes, I'm a certified crazy cat lady, and I wear that badge with pride.

Four felines? It's not a household, it's a cat-astrophe... and we wouldn't have it any other way!

It started one morning in May. My nurse Spidey senses tingled when he started acting "off." Faster than you can say "catnip," I rushed him to the to the ER, leading to a 4-day stint at the animal hospital.

Since then, it's been a whirlwind of vet visits, a respiratory infection, and another hospital visit for an abdominal ultrasound.

Currently, Baci's daily routine includes 6 different medications - it's like a feline pharmacy in my kitchen!

Here's where you come in, dear humans. We're raising funds for Baci's upcoming diagnostic scan and surgery. Recent medical bills have already clawed their way to over $7,000, and we're bracing for more.

Our Goal: $17,000

Cat Scan: $3,000

Surgery: $11,000

Post-op care and medications: $3,000

This life-changing surgery will reroute Baci's rebellious blood vessels, guiding them back to his liver where they belong. If successful, it could free our furr baby from his daily medication cocktail, giving him a chance at a normal, playful kitty life.

Life with Baci is like a box of chocolates - we never know what we're gonna get, some days the meds help tremendously and others he can’t even stand to eat his prescription food meals. But with your help, we're hoping for many more days filled with purrs, play, and paw-sitivity ^_^
