Just a few short days ago, our sweet baby Zoey was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) — an extremely rare and aggressive form of blood cancer, made even more rare given her young age- she is only 3 months old.
in her young life, Zoey has already endured more than most adults ever will. She’s tested positive for five viruses over the last month, has been battling neutropenic fever, and has suffered through five blown veins from repeated IV attempts. Despite her tiny body, Zoey’s spirit is fierce, and we have the highest hopes for her future.
AML in infants is a medical emergency. Once a diagnosis was reached, she was admitted immediately and began chemotherapy the same night — starting with daunorubicin and cytarabine, the standard but intense treatment for this cancer. All AML treatments must be done in the hospital, meaning Zoey- and our family- will remain in the hospital for the foreseeable future.
Her first round of chemotherapy is expected to last 28 days, but that is truly only the beginning. Doctors anticipate multiple rounds over the coming months, possibly years, until she reaches remission. There is no clear timeline for when we’ll get to bring her home.
In order to stay by Zoey’s side and continue caring for our toddler, Archer, one parent will likely need to step away from work — resulting in a major loss of income during an already overwhelming time.
We are humbly asking for your support. Every donation will go directly to helping us cover:
• Lost wages and living expenses
• Hospital meals and travel costs
• Childcare support for Archer
• Medical bills not covered by insurance
• Any long-term needs Zoey may face in her recovery
No parent should have to choose between work and being there for their child during a medical crisis. We want to give Zoey the best chance possible — with her family surrounding her in love every single day.
Thank you for reading, sharing, donating, and holding us in your hearts. We are amazed and blessed to be surrounded by so many people that love us.
With deepest gratitude,
Hallie, David, Zoey & Archer
