Baby Wyatt was born with a rare heart condition, Tetralogy of Fallot, caused by a combination of four heart defects that are present at birth. These serious defects cause oxygen-poor blood to flow out of the heart and into the rest of the body. Soon after birth, he required an emergency heart procedure and spent 11 days in the hospital at Medical City of Dallas in the NICU. He had 3 stents put in that took 3-5 hours to do. He was on an oxygen and feeding tube and has a device at home to constantly monitor the oxygen in his blood and heart rate. His "curve" that measures his body weight and height (percentile) is both at 1% due to his heart condition. He is on a special high-priced formula that is made for preemies that they have to extra fortify to help him maintain the weight he has. At 7 months, he's currently only 15 lbs and a little over 25 in long.
This family has been through so much. While baby Wyatt was fighting for his life, his mother was in the ICU fighting for hers as well for an additional 3 weeks after giving birth. The father and mother have had to miss so much work due to medical emergencies. The upcoming surgery will require the parents to both be out of work again and they desperately need help with maintaining their monthly bills as well as medical bills. Baby Wyatt’s medical bills were over $900,000 alone. Anything would be so appreciated. This family does not ask for help and are usually very private, but I know it would mean the world if they could not worry just for a moment about financials.
