Hello we are the Kane Family,

Our son, Thomas Jr., was diagnosed with Down’s Syndrome and Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS). While babies with a Trisomy 21 diagnosis often have congenital heart defects, HLHS is a rare and critical congenital heart condition, it is fatal without treatment. Baby Thomas will need three staged operations to help provide his heart with the best function. His first open-heart surgery will be shortly after birth, a second operation around 4-6 months and the last around 18 months -3 years.

Our baby boy is a fighter, defying odds and expectations since we confirmed his arrival, received the news he would be born with an extra chromosome and discovered the gravity of his heart defect. We long prayed for another baby, after experiencing infertility, and are blessed to be expecting our son.

We are asking for you help in supporting our journey to travel to North Carolina for his delivery and first open heart surgery. Any contribution is greatly appreciated and will go towards his complex medical care and our travel and housing expenses.

We are a family that walks by faith. Our pregnancy has been difficult, filled with lots of unknowns and fear. But, our faith in God and our faith communities have sustained us with hope and the grace to endure the difficult journey ahead. We believe in God and the power of prayer. We ask that you pray for miraculous healing for our son, strength for our family and guidance for his medical team.  Please share our story with others.
