No family should ever have to face what the Torres/Roberts family is going through right now. On behalf of James Torres and baby Thea, I’m reaching out to ask for your help during the most unimaginable time of their lives.
About Hannah
Hannah Torres (née Roberts) was the kind of person who could walk into a room and immediately make everyone smile. To be near her was to love her, not only for the incredible person that she was, but for the way she made those around her better versions of themselves. A dedicated marketing manager by profession, Hannah’s greatest dream was always to start a family and become a mother. When she and James learned they were expecting their baby girl, their joy was boundless. They spent months preparing, picking out tiny outfits, setting up the nursery, stockpiling diapers, and imagining all the memories they would make together as a family.
What Happened
Thea Torres was born at 31 weeks — tiny, but full of fight. Just six days after bringing Thea into the world, Hannah tragically and unexpectedly passed away. In an instant, what should have been the happiest chapter of their lives became the most devastating. James is now navigating the overwhelming grief of losing his wife while being the strongest dad he can be for his newborn daughter.
Thea’s Progress
Despite everything, there is hope. Baby Thea is a fighter. Now three weeks old, she is recovering beautifully in the NICU and has already gained 25% of her body weight, hitting the 4lb club. She has stopped receiving supplemental oxygen, started to bottle feed, and has been given a “big girl bed,” an open air crib free of support systems. The medical team is encouraged by her progress, and the family is looking forward to the day they can finally bring her home.
How Your Donation Will Help
Beyond the massive emotional hole that Hannah's passing has left, it has also left a significant financial one. Thanks to Hannah and James’s excitement and preparation, most of Thea’s early baby essentials are already in place. What the family needs most now is help with the costs of Hannah’s funeral, the pending medical bills, and the long-term reality James is facing: raising Thea as a single working parent.
Your donations will go directly toward paying for Hannah’s funeral, medical costs of Thea’s stay in the NICU, and childcare costs once Thea is released from the hospital — giving James the support he needs to return to work while ensuring Thea receives the safe, loving care she deserves.
Specifically, funds will be used for:
• Hannah’s funeral services
• Any medical bills for Hannah and Thea’s stay not covered by insurance
• Full-time childcare or nanny services when James returns to work in August
• Backup and emergency childcare needs during the critical first year
• Transitional support as the family adjusts to their new reality
How You Can Help
No donation is too small. Whether you can give $10 or $1000, every dollar brings James one step closer to the stability Thea needs. If you’re unable to donate, sharing this page means the world. The more people who see Hannah and Thea’s story, the more support this family will receive.
Hannah may not be here to watch Thea grow up, but with your generosity, we can make sure her daughter is surrounded by the love and care Hannah would have given her every single day.
