Prayers and support for baby Thatcher’s heart!

On February 11, 2025 our dear friends Brandi and Justin Warfield welcomed their second child, Thatcher Jay. Thatcher’s sweet little body soon showed signs of distress. He had a rare blood infection which caused a significant blood clot in his aorta, blocking most of the blood flow resulting in a massive heart attack, stroke, and seizures.

Praise God and thanks-be to the incredible medical team at UVA NICU, he is weaning off oxygen and growing stronger as they fine tune his medications. There is some brain damage in the language area of his brain but the main focus is for his heart to heal and strengthen.

It has been a week of physical and emotional strain while the doctors have grappled with the best treatment plan. Amid many tears and prayers, Thatcher has miraculously improved during the first week of his life. God has shown up in so many indescribable ways.

Thatcher remains in the PICU as of this writing and will be hospitalized at least to the end of March. His parents are taking turns making the two hour round trip each day to spend time with him while also caring for their 16 month old daughter at home.
