Our sweet baby Syire was born on May 15th, 2025 with a rare genetic condition called CHARGE Syndrome. This condition was not detectable during pregnancy and is not inherited—it occurs as a spontaneous mutation during early development. Because of CHARGE Syndrome, Syire is facing several serious medical challenges, including a Giant Omphalocele, Pulmonary Hypertension, and severe breathing difficulties that have left him ventilator-dependent until his lungs grow stronger. He is also undergoing additional genetic testing as doctors work to understand the full extent of his condition.

Syire’s medical needs are intensive, and his critical condition has placed a tremendous emotional and financial strain on our family. His parents travel over an hour each way to be with him in the hospital while also caring for their toddler at home. Compounding the situation, Syire’s mom was impacted by recent government layoffs. Losing her job has made it even more difficult to keep up with expenses, and they are now at risk of losing their home. While being out of work has allowed them more time to be by Syire’s side, it has also made providing for their family extremely challenging—especially because Syire will require 24/7 care and his sibling cannot safely attend daycare due to the risk of illness. They are doing everything they can to find remote work to protect their children’s health, but opportunities have been limited.
