My name is Janice Setzer and I am sharing this story for my grandson and his wife, Cage and Kinzie Elrod. As some of you already know, our great-grandson, Rowyn, had to have open-heart surgery a short while after he was born. He was born on February 7, 2025, and has been diagnosed Tetralogy of Fallot which is a congenital heart defect (CHD) and lung defect. It's a very rare variant of DiGeorge Syndrome. It's so rare they haven't found anybody here with it and is life-threatening . He is currently at MUSC in Charleston and has been there since he was born and had his first surgery on March 21, 2025, which he handled pretty well. He has had some complications, but he is such a strong little baby boy. He will have to have another heart surgery in approximately 3-6 months, and we’re not sure what the future holds for additional surgeries.

We are not a family that typically asks for handouts or anything like that, but everything has become very expensive with Baby Rowyn's mother (Kinzie) caring for him full-time at the hospital and his father (Cage) traveling to and from Charleston and Lexington to see his family and continues to work full-time. It’s very expensive for all the bills, gas, and on-the-go food. If you would like to donate, we would be extremely thankful. Even if you cannot donate anything, all prayers are welcome.
