Support Baby RJ’s Journey

My name is Tomomi. I am hoping to raise funds for my friend Emi’s baby boy RJ and their family.

RJ is a unique and happy 2.5-year-old boy who was born with severe (bilateral) hearing loss. Shortly thereafter, it was discovered through genetic testing that he was diagnosed with a rare syndrome affecting 1/50,000.

Most recently, a CT scan a few months ago revealed that he developed craniosynostosis, which is an expected result directly linked to the genetic disorder diagnosis. While his initial cranioplasty surgery (cranial distractor implanwas a success, he will undergo a couple more surgeries in the near future to complete the process.

Post-operation, all of RJ’s therapists and doctors say he looks noticeably happier.

Since RJ’s birth, Emi instinctively assumed her motherly role, but is also his specialized 24/7 caregiver—requiring her to devote a majority of her time for his tube feedings and coordinating weekly therapy appointments—all while juggling family duties.

With no immediate family or relatives nearby to offer child care assistance, and Hawaii’s known high cost of living, they are financially and spiritually drained.

As her husband works solely to provide for the family’s financial needs, their single individual income isn’t nearly enough to support them; as they exhausted all options.

Life is never easy—sometimes all it takes is a small gesture of kindness to pull us through challenging situations to continue forward.

With you help, I am hoping to raise some funds to support RJ’s family and shine light into their lives.

Any amount will be greatly appreciated, and will go directly to benefit Emi’s family to cover any foreseeable bills.

Let’s help to ease the struggles during this difficult time for them. ❤️
