Support River's Heart Surgery Journey

Hello everyone! River was born on October 11, 2024 around 11:45am. He was born at 7.6 pounds looking like a perfect healthy baby boy! Around 8-9pm the nurse came in and took him to go feed him and just to give us rest, i didn’t think much of it until she came back in the room around 2am saying he had to be airlifted to Arkansas Children’s Hospital because he couldn’t keep his O2 up and that he had a heart murmur… We only got to spend like 12 hours with him after he was born! I was devastated seeing our baby river crying and not knowing what was going on, he just needed his momma to hold him and to tell him that everything was going to be okay! Fast forward a couple months with back to back cardiology appointments.. he was scheduled to have open heart surgery around 3-4 months old but they waited until he was 5 months old! They did the surgery 2 days after he turned 5 months old, they said surgery went well! The nurses and doctors normally don’t see a heart baby gain weight as much as they saw river ( 17.10 ) pounds for a baby. Hims my chunky man and i love him so much! We love him so much! After heart surgery, we could only see him 10 mins every hour ( the first day was rough and exhausting ). I held him two days after his surgery and i just knew he wasn’t comfortable at all and I was crying because i knew my baby boy was in pain, I just didn’t know what to do!! They moved him from CVICU to ICU, after he gets more better they will move him to Intermediate, when they will determine when he can go home! We still have a long road ahead of us but we will get through it as much as we’ve gotten through already (i know that’s not a word but oh well ). The prayers and thoughts are wonderful, keep them coming!! The help that we are receiving is wonderful as well. Thank you so much to everyone!
