Hello, my name is Shante Gay-Graves, and I’m reaching out with a heavy heart as my family faces one of the most difficult moments of our lives.

Earlier this year, I had to resign from my job at 6 months pregnant due to a high-risk pregnancy. It was a necessary decision to protect both myself and my baby, but it also placed the full financial burden on my husband. We are already raising our two wonderful children—a bright 12-year-old and a playful 18-month-old—and have been doing our best to prepare for our growing family.

On June 26, 2025, at 4:45 PM, we welcomed our beautiful daughter, Nyla Graves, into the world at full term. She was born healthy and strong, or so we thought—until everything changed within the first 24 hours.

Nyla began struggling to breathe on her own and was urgently placed on a ventilator. When her condition didn’t improve, she had to be medically flown to another hospital for critical care. She is now in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) and continues to fight for her life, surrounded by machines and the constant care of doctors and nurses.

As a mother, this has been unimaginably painful. While trying to stay strong for my other children, I spend every moment by Nyla’s side, hoping and praying for a miracle all while recovering from a C-Section.

Donations will help us cover medical expenses, travel costs, and daily needs as we navigate this journey to help with the financial burden & uncertain road ahead.
