Two weeks after finally bringing baby Nico home from the NICU, my older brother and his fiancée faced every parent’s worst nightmare.

Nico was born prematurely and, although he was making progress, he became critically ill after being exposed to sickness. He stopped breathing at home just two days after being released from the NICU, turned cyanotic, and emergency services had to be called immediately. Since then, he has been hospitalized in critical condition fighting multiple viruses, struggling with oxygen levels, heart rate drops, and requiring intensive medical care.

His parents have barely left his side.

Right now, their entire world revolves around keeping their baby alive and supported through this terrifying fight. At the same time, they are also trying to care for their two-year-old daughter at home, who still needs everyday essentials, stability, and support while her parents navigate this crisis. My brother has had to miss work not only to be at the hospital with Nico, but also to stay home and care for their daughter during all of this.

Between hospital stays, travel back and forth, missed work, meals, medical expenses, supplies for their daughter, and the emotional toll of living in the NICU/PICU day after day, they are overwhelmed.

We are creating this fundraiser to help ease even a small part of that burden so they can focus fully on Nico’s recovery and caring for their family.

Funds will go toward:

• Medical-related expenses

• Gas and transportation to and from the hospital

• Meals during long hospital stays

• Bills and lost income from missed work

• Supplies and essentials for their two-year-old daughter

• Any ongoing care Nico may need during recovery
