On Christmas morning, our sweet baby Maeve, at only 3 months old, was sent via emergency medical helicopter to John Hopkins All Children’s Hospital in St. Pete, Florida. Maeve was diagnosed with a Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia (CDH)—a rare condition where a hole in the diaphragm allows abdominal organs to move into the chest, preventing the lungs from developing properly. With many prayers and love sent her way, she made it through a 6-hour emergency surgery and has started her long road to recovery. Maeve will remain under the specialists' care for her condition for at least a few more weeks.
The Walkers had just moved to Florida 3 days prior and have had their world completely turned upside down. Kerry and Joe will be staying at the Ronald McDonald House on the hospital’s campus to be close by to Maeve 24/7. With the new move and now this devastating event, they are unable to work or begin to settle into their new state like any other family would after moving.
We are asking for any donation to help Kerry, Joe & Maeve through these next few weeks and to get a head start on what is likely to be extensive medical bills that will be coming their way due to this emergency. Any amount will help.
