On April 28, 2026 at 3:21 PM, my daughter Leslie and my son-in-law John welcomed my first grandbaby, Luciana Inez Marie, into the world. She weighed 4 pounds 13.3 ounces and measured 17.7 inches long. This was a deeply loved and unforgettable moment for our family. During her pregnancy, Leslie learned that Luciana would be born with a heart defect and would need open-heart surgery shortly after birth. As her mother, I have watched her handle this journey with strength, love, and steady courage for her baby.
Because of concerns for Luciana’s condition before birth, my daughter Leslie was airlifted to Stanford University in Palo Alto, California so she could receive specialized care and ensure her baby had access to the best possible medical team at delivery. She and John have been at Stanford since then, staying close to luciana and the hospital team caring for her.
Today is the day of Luciana’s open-heart surgery. Leslie and John are at the hospital by her side, doing their best to stay strong and present for their baby during this important moment. It is an emotional day for them, but they are fully focused on Luciana’s care and recovery.
Leslie lives with Type 1 diabetes and has always worked hard, holding two jobs to support her family. Right now, both she and John are fully dedicated to Luciana’s healing. Because luciana will need ongoing monitoring after surgery, Leslie will remain in Stanford, Palo Alto for an extended period to stay close to the hospital.
I am asking for support for my daughter, my son-in-law, and my first grandbaby during this time. Any contribution will go toward medical expenses, recovery care, and helping Leslie stay near Luciana while she heals. If you are unable to donate, sharing this fundraiser would mean so much. As a mother and grandmother, I am deeply grateful for any kindness shown to help my granddaughter, daughter & my son-in-law during this important moment, thank you we love you all very deeply.
love- fifi & family❤️
