We are the Scoggin family. On August 27th we went in to our regularly scheduled appointment to check on the baby. After having a high blood pressure reading, our doctor had us go to Mercy hospital in Ardmore, where we discovered that I had developed preeclampsia. Given how early the onset of the preeclampsia was, they released me from the hospital and told us to go to Texoma medical center in Sherman, Texas. Immediately the doctors realized our situation was bigger than what they could handle and they transfered me to Medical City hospital in Plano, Tx. On August 30th, I had to have an emergency C-section due to my kidneys shutting down from the preeclampsia, and delivered our baby girl at 24 weeks old. She was born at 1lb 1.6oz and only 11" long. Being born this early, she will need extensive medical care at the NICU in Plano for the next 5 months at minimum. Given that her hospital is 96 miles away from our home this will cause extensive unexpected financial stress on our livelihood. Luckily the Ronald McDonald house has approved us to stay in the area but, because we have pets, my husband will have to stay home with the animals, while I stay near Kalypso to be able to provide her with the necessary breast milk she requires for proper development. Because we only have one car (and it doesn't work that great) my husband will only be able to visit his daughter during the next 5 months if I make the 96 mile trip home to get him, or if someone is able to bring him up here and then take him home. We are asking for help to pay for travel costs and the $2400 that it will take for me to stay at the Ronald McDonald house in Dallas, Tx.
