On October 22, 2025, Samy and Tyler welcomed their sweet baby boy, Johnny Cruz into the world. Shortly after birth, baby Johnny began showing signs of low oxygen levels. He was med flighted to Arkansas Children’s Hospital, where doctors diagnosed him with Transposition of the Great Arteries (TGA). This is a rare and serious congenital heart defect in which his two main arteries leaving the heart are reversed.

Johnny will need major open-heart surgery in the next week or two! Samy and Tyler are leaning on their faith, family, and the incredible medical team at Arkansas Children’s Hospital to care for their son.

This unexpected journey can bring emotional and financial challenges no one can truly prepare for, including time off work and other countless expenses that come with having a newborn in cardiac intensive care.
