Support baby Isabella’s journey toward a healthier life

DEAR FAMILY, FRIENDS AND KIND-HEARTED INDIVIDUALS,

My name is Xiomara Castillo, a single mother of two beautiful children, my handsome son Benjamin, who is 13 and my beautiful daughter Isabella who is 23 months old. I’m reaching out with a heavy heart to ask for your financial support for Isabella, a brave 23 months old who has been fighting a courageous battle since birth. Isabella was born with Congenital Heart Disease (CHD) – specifically, Tetralogy of Fallot – a serious condition that affects her heart's ability to pump blood effectively. Unfortunately, I recently lost my job working as a District trainer for a waxing franchise company for the past 8 years. My manager did not have sympathy for my daughter’s situation and refused to work around my schedule.

At birth, Isabella was diagnosed with a heart issue and stayed in the NICU for seven days for observation.

After two months of being home, my daughter was contaminated with salmonella through her formula. She had to be flown from Golisano All Children hospital in Ft. Myers to John Hopkins hospital in St. Pete because the hospital near us did not have specialist. When she arrived to the hospital in St. Pete, Isabella’s stomach was swollen due to the low oxygen causing her to have trouble getting enough blood to her lungs and she developed a bluish skin, nails, and lips.

She had to go under general anesthesia for the doctors to be able to run studies to figure out what was going and they were also trying to control the salmonella because it could of gotten to her brain and she would of had more heart complications.

While staying at the hospital for 3 months running many different studies, they found out that Isabella had a Genetic Syndrome. Due to Nonaan Syndrome she had a leak in her right lympathic system and they had to drained it out before proceeding to do the open heart surgery . Isabella was 5 months when the cardiologist decided that it was time for her to have an open heart surgery.

5 days after her open heart surgery, the doctors did a surgery for her swollen stomach. She stayed at the hospital for 2 more months with feeding tubes.

After months she’s now off feeding tubes and we have been doing PT, OT, and speech therapies.

QUERIDA FAMILIA, AMIGOS Y PERSONAS DE BUEN CORAZÓN, Mi nombre es Xiomara Castillo, madre soltera de dos hermosos hijos, mi apuesto hijo Benjamín, de 13 años, y mi hermosa hija Isabella, de 23 meses. Me dirijo a ustedes con gran pesar para pedirles su apoyo financiero para Isabella, una valiente niña de 23 meses que ha estado luchando una valiente batalla desde su nacimiento. Isabella nació con una cardiopatía congénita (CHD, por sus siglas en inglés), específicamente, Tetralogía de Fallot, una afección grave que afecta la capacidad de su corazón para bombear sangre de manera efectiva. Desafortunadamente, recientemente perdí mi trabajo como capacitadora de distrito para una empresa de franquicias de depilación con cera durante los últimos 8 años. Mi gerente no tuvo compasión por la situación de mi hija y se negó a adaptarse a mi horario.

Al nacer, a Isabella le diagnosticaron un problema cardíaco y permaneció en la UCIN durante siete días para observación.

Después de dos meses de estar en casa, mi hija se contaminó con salmonela a través de su fórmula. Tuvieron que trasladarla en avión desde el hospital Golisano All Children en Ft. Myers al hospital John Hopkins en St. Pete porque el hospital cercano a nosotros no tenía especialistas. Cuando llegó al hospital en St. Pete, el estómago de Isabella estaba hinchado debido al bajo nivel de oxígeno, lo que le causaba problemas para que llegara suficiente sangre a los pulmones y desarrolló una piel, uñas y labios azulados.

Tuvo que recibir anestesia general para que los médicos pudieran realizar estudios para determinar qué estaba pasando y también estaban tratando de controlar la salmonela porque podría haber llegado a su cerebro y habría tenido más complicaciones cardíacas.

Mientras permanecía en el hospital durante 3 meses y le realizaban muchos estudios diferentes, descubrieron que Isabella tenía un síndrome genético. Debido al síndrome de Nonaan, tenía una fuga en su sistema linfático derecho y tuvieron que drenarlo antes de proceder a realizar la cirugía a corazón abierto. Isabella tenía 5 meses cuando el cardiólogo decidió que era hora de que se sometiera a una cirugía a corazón abierto.

5 días después de su cirugía a corazón abierto, los médicos le realizaron una cirugía para tratar su hinchazón abdominal. Estuvo en el hospital dos meses más con sondas de alimentación.

Después de meses, ya no necesita sondas de alimentación y hemos estado haciendo fisioterapia, terapia ocupacional y terapia del habla.

Humildemente, pedimos su ayuda para apoyar el camino de la pequeña Isabella hacia una vida más saludable y feliz.
