The Erwin family was excited with news they would be welcoming a second child. Their 20 week anatomy scan found concerning findings that made the coming months a flurry of scans, tests, second opinions and weekly monitoring. As they prepared for a planned local cesarean section their care was suddenly transferred to Children's Hospital in Minneapolis. On December 19th 2025 Michaela and Grant welcomed Elliott Teagin.

Elliott "Ellie" was born with hydrocephalus, a congenital heart defect, fusion in her cranial plates and immature kidneys. Thus far she has had two cranial surgeries and has spent six weeks in-patient at Children's Hospital. We are starting this GoFundMe to assist the family with extensive medical and travel costs as well as basic living expenses.

Grant has returned to Mandan to care for their 22 month old son, Callen, and needed to return to his work as he had exhausted his leave. Michaela has not returned to work and based on Elliott's needs for additional care including a number of expected additional surgeries this year it is unknown when she will.
