Support Baby Ella's Fight Against Krabbe Disease
Donation protected
My name is Brett Bartolotta and a friend of mine, Dan Fox, who I have known for almost ten years is in need of some real help and support. His family recently received the worst news any parents can receive following the birth of their second child Ella. Below are the words of his wife Jinea. She is currently at Duke University staying in a hotel with her kids awaiting the doctors to start baby Ella on chemotherapy before conducting a bone marrow transplant which could save her life.
"When my daughter Ella was 9 days old, born on April 10th, 2024, she was diagnosed with Krabee disease through the New York State newborn screening and follow up testing. Krabbe disease is a toxic build up in the central nervous system, Ella has infantile Krabbe disease. Without treatment, Ella will not make it to her second birthday. The bone marrow transplant when given before 30 days of life stops the progression of the disease but it does not reverse any damage already done. This means that when she had her nerve conduction test, there was a slight delay with how the nerves responded. She will require continued MRIs and nerve conduction tests for the rest of her life. I am on my way to Duke University in North Carolina with both of our children. It is now a race against time to save Ella's life."
The medical expenses and cost of living on this family are exorbitant and crippling. We are hoping and praying we can show this family what the true nature of good human beings can do to pull a truly struggling family above water and most importantly, perhaps save a life.
