As some may know baby Elias born with a Congenital Heart Defect called a Double Aortic Arch.
At my 20 week anatomy scan there were suspicions of baby having a Double Aortic Arch. Jose and I were placed into a room completely clueless trying to process all the information the Doctor was providing. We were then referred to cardiology for a Fetal ECHO which confirmed baby has a Double Aortic Arch creating a vascular ring around his trachea and esophagus with the solution being surgery. It was unclear how soon this may affect baby after birth which was terrifying. We were cleared to deliver at Baystate but had to keep in mind if things took a turn baby would have to get sent to Boston Childrens, luckily he responded well after birth with his assessment from NICU and an ECHO study.
At 2 weeks old we noticed a mild case of Stridor followed with persistent cough. With his diagnosis I was already on edge and sent back for another ECHO. His symptoms remained the same up until about a month ago, now worsening with tracheal tugging, gagging during feeds, raspy cough when crying, flared nostrils, congested, overall looked like he was is distress. Baby was recently seen at Boston Childrens for a cardiac CT scan which showed narrowing of his airway, now needing surgery sooner than expected.
Your donations will help covering the cost of medical expenses, daily living expenses. Allowing us to be with baby boy at the hospital while he recovers. Anyone that knows Jose and I we’re not really the people to ask for money but we are in a difficult time of need
Every Donation no matter the size will be so much appreciated
